Route
Morning tour:
10:00 am: Pickup in front of Avignon tourist office (address: 41 cours Jean Jaurès)
10:45 am: Visit of Thouzon Caves (admission tickets included in the price) located at Le Thor (30 minutes drive), discovered in 1902, in which temperature does not exceed 13°C (56°F). Duration: about 1 hour.
12:15 pm: Provençal picnic in the freshness of Le Groseau in Malaucène (45 minutes drive). This shady site is located near a spring which is considered Fontaine de Vaucluse’s little sister. The picnic will only be made up of local goods (instance: hard-boiled eggs from the farm, tapenade, anchovy purée, fresh goat cheese, seasonal fruits, grape juice). Duration: about 1 hour.
1:30 pm: Stroll at the summit of the Mont Ventoux (20 minutes drive), nicknamed the Giant of Provence with the full height of its 1,910 metres/6,266 feet of altitude and offering an incredible 360° panorama. There, you will also discover its lunar landscape as well as some chamois and sheep if you are a bit lucky! It is worth noting that temperatures were never higher than 30°C (86°F) in the history! Duration: about 45 minutes.
3:30 pm: Guided tour of the ochre’s Mines of Bruoux (admission tickets included in the price), located in Gargas (1h15 drive) and in which temperature is at 10°C (50°F). This former quarry was used to extract ochre, especially for painting, coating and colouring. Duration: about 1 hour.
4:30 pm: Back to Avignon (1 hour drive). Arrival in front of the tourist office at around 5:30 pm.
Afternoon tour:

- The tour will occur, except in case of emergency (red vigilance declared by Météo France, quarantine, driver’s illness)
- Cancellation with complete refund possible up to 24 hours before departure time
- Do not forget to take warm clothes (it can be very cold and windy at the summit of the Mont Ventoux)
